In 1889, the congregation of White River Presbyterian Church moved to the town of Slaughter and by 1890, was meeting in its own church building on the corner of 1st and Division (near the current location of the hospital in downtown Auburn).
Slaughter was renamed Auburn in 1893, and White River Presbyterian Church grew along with the town.
A new church building was completed in 1924, one block away, at the corner of 2nd and Division.
